I am very pleased to announce that I am joining Tribune Production and Frank Olivas and the boys @ KTLA Channel 5 news as a per diem Lighting Director. Duties should include the occasional calls on the morning and evening news and helping Mr. Olivas w/ his CAD & instrument schedules.
For 3 years I was employed as a Project Manager/ Automated Crew Lead for the Los Angeles branch of Vari*Lite, in the halcyon pre-PRG days of 1997-2000. After gaining Series 200 and 300 training in Dallas, and I was able to be apart of the Artisan to Virtuoso & DMX transition and feel very fortunate to have been apart of such a critical phase of automated lighting history. I was also very proud to be apart of the VLPS LA team that specialized in laying in large one off televised productions for designers such as Simon Miles, Alan Branton, Bob Barnhart and Bob Dickinson. Highlight productions with Vari*Lite and VLPS include Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Century event in NYC, the grand opening of the Experience Music Project in Seattle, and crew leading the annual the Vanity Fair Oscar Party @ Mortons.
